Referees & Refereeing at Marin FC

Overview

Hosting the highest level of soccer in the county, Marin FC is committed to growing and developing local referees. Our Referees earn anywhere from $20 to $100 per game depending on the age and the level of the teams. Games are played throughout the year with the club's busiest months being October-November.

Two arenas exist at Marin FC for referees. First, the club requires our players to become licensed referees and contribute to the greater soccer community through our Referee and Volunteer Program (RVP).  For more information about the RVP and becoming licensed, please visit our RVP page. Secondly, there are numerous opportunities at many levels to referee at Marin FC. The information below will help guide those referees interested in officiating at our games.

Rough Season Schedule

Marin FC has need of referees throughout the entire year and at all age and skill levels. After tryouts take place in May, periods of activity are as follows:

Summer (June-August) : Many teams are away at tournaments but preseason scrimmages and friendlies with other clubs are not uncommon. Our USL 2, USL W and USL Academy teams are heavily active in June.

Fall  (Sept.-Nov.) : This is the club's season of maximum activity and demand.  Commonly the club will see between 30 and 60 home games on any given weekend.

Winter (Dec.-Feb.) : With the High School soccer season in full swing, most of our older teams take a break, but our younger teams remain relatively active.

Spring (March-May) : Activity at the club and the need for referees ramps back up with Spring leagues such as Norcal and ECNL.
